The Church is scratching the wrong places in many ways:
I think we are often speaking to our culture in ways that they don't understand, about things that they don't care about, and from a place that has little resemblance to what God intends for His church...
But, we have the opportunity to change that!
Our generation has the opportunity to place our fingerprints all over the future of the Church...
I wouldn't be a part of a church family that didn't scratch the places that needed to be scratched. That's not to say that all of my "needs" are met but only He can do that.
If itches weren't being scratched then it would be my responsibility to make the change in my life....not to change for the church but for God if that is His wish for me.
I agree with Steve that we do have the opportunity to place our fingerprints all ove rhte future of the church.
Yes...the responsibility we so often place on the church - our spiritual well-being - is our responsibility. If we look to the Church for our only entrance to the transformation offered in Jesus, we have entered into a something different. Probably developing a resentment for our needs not being met.
I'm with you both...let's get some finger-prints on this monkey as we move on through it.
